The Ultrasound Department is currently recruiting for a casual Ultrasound Technologist to work rotating Day, Evening, and Midnight shifts. This position is primarily for the Middletown ED but can also rotate through Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals. Weekends and Holidays as required.
To perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures at the request of physicians to aid in the diagnoses of disease or related abnormalities.
Performs General, OB/GYN, and small parts diagnostic Ultrasound exams.
Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the use of all Ultrasound units and PACS workstations.
Demonstrates effective communication skills in discussing cases with radiologists.
Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in assisting physicians during invasive procedures.
Demonstrates ability to provide technologist's tentative readings as needed.
Obtain clinical history regarding reason for examination and documentation on x-ray request form and appropriate log book.
Obtain appropriate consent for procedure.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs and to provide the care needed.
Performs other related duties as required.
