The NICU Nurse Residency Program is a challenging 26-week program that integrates educational components with preceptor-led clinical experiences on our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This program has been devised by the nurses in the NICU to allow for a smooth transition from GN to the RN role for those candidates who qualify.
Program participants will be required to pass State Boards and be licensed as a RN in the State of Delaware prior to the start of the program. Participants must also agree to sign a commitment agreement to work at the Christiana Care Health System for 4160 hours in the NICU area upon program completion . Individuals unable to fill this commitment will be charged $10,000.

Less than 12 months of nursing experience by the start of the program.
Candidates must possess a GPA of 2.8 or higher
Candidates must be eligible for licensure as a Graduate Nurse/Registered Nurse in the state of Delaware.
To apply for this program, you will need to complete the online application, submit a resume, and cover letter that is specific to the residency to which you are applying. Please note that if the cover letter is not specific to the residency to which you are applying, you will not be considered for that residency program. If selected to continue forward in the process, you will received a Video Interview Link to complete within 72 hours.
After submitting your online application, you will receive two emails on the next business day . One will be from Skill Survey which you will utilize for electronic clinical references and the other will contain additional information specific to the application process.
It is important to note that the DE licensure process may take 6-8 weeks to complete and the failure to do so will directly impact your ability to start a position if an offer is made. We strongly encourage applicants to visit the DE Board of Nursing website and begin the fingerprinting and background check process immediately after you submit your application.
