Leads the development and construction of a new university hospital, reporting through Facilities Operations and Development (FOD). The Project Executive Director will oversee, manage and direct the Design and Construction Management teams, ensuring the project runs according to schedule and meets financial objectives and organizational goals as documented in the approved program of requirements and planning documents. The Project Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing the program implementation, estimating, design, and construction of an inpatient hospital of up to 840 beds, replacing and expanding on the 440 beds in Rhodes Hall and Doan Hall, 60 neonatal intensive care unit bassinets, state-of-the-art diagnostic, treatment, and inpatient service areas, as well as key enabling projects. This Project Executive Director ensures that established procedures and applicable codes are followed and quality standards are met, while also ensuring the project program user's needs and project designs are consistent. This individual will collaborate with other FOD entities, university concessionaires and campus customers. This position will be responsible for routine reports to senior leaders.
The Project Executive Director must be knowledgeable in all aspects of local building code requirements, State of Ohio reporting requirements, ADA, Life Safety, etc.; and must have an in depth knowledge of Joint Commission Accreditation Healthcare Organization, Interim Life Safety Measures, and the National Fire Protection Association. The Project Executive Director will collaborate with epidemiology, hospital safety, compliance, operations and various hospital lines of business. Hours and days will vary according to project needs and priorities. This position is deemed essential and therefore will be required for 24 hour emergency call. Potential travel to sites outside the Columbus Campus may be required for this position.
In accordance with the Disaster Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17 this position has been designated as an essential position.
Will require successful completion of a criminal background check and health screening.
Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, engineering or related field or a combination of education and applicable work experience; 10-15 years of experience managing large, complex medical facility construction projects; demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and build consensus; familiarity with state and local building codes; knowledge of applicable Life Safety, National Fire Protection, and Health Care Facilities codes; excellent communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; good written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage multiple project circumstances simultaneously, experience in leading and managing construction management staff; detailed working knowledge of building systems, design, and construction techniques; experience negotiating contracts and facility management experience; strong demonstrated experience communicating with various senior leaders regarding highly complex project issues; substantial experience in a public healthcare construction procurement environment.
Extensive knowledge of public design and construction procurement services in the State of Ohio.
