8:00-4:30; 2 weekends per month and additional days during the week
The Speech Pathologist/Speech & Language Pathologist, provides direct and indirect services to specific age groups in the acute care, inpatient and/or outpatient rehabilitation settings. Utilizes process improvement in achieving the goals of the Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Department. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies, and accrediting bodies. May supervise Clinical Fellowship Year/Speech & Language Pathologists (CFY's), other Speech Language Pathologists, technical aides, volunteers and interns. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Entry-level professional competency of Speech and Language practice, theory, principles and applications as defined in competencies departmental policy
Basic computer skills to include Outlook, Microsoft Office and Windows (Preferred)
Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
A license or provisional license in the State of Florida as a Speech and Language Pathologist
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Performs evaluations and re-evaluations according to standards and recommended techniques. Establishes, implements and adapts an individualized treatment plan of care (including appropriate goal setting, treatment activities and frequency). Discharges patients when maximum benefit has been achieved and/or according to standards of practice and payer guidelines.
Documents accurately, completely, and timely with legible handwriting. Uses measurable and objective terminology following standards of practice, insurance guidelines and department/hospital policy and procedures.
Charges patient accurately, timely and legibly according to guidelines of the CPT code format, price file, and following insurance guidelines.
Utilizes knowledge of growth and development for assigned patient age population. Evaluates for age-appropriate behavior, motor skills and physiological norms of the patient. Interprets data relative to patient age. Modifies approach and communication skills appropriate to the patient served, which may include: Neonate/Infant (birth < 1), Pediatric (1 < 12 yrs), Adolescent (12 < 18 yrs), Adult (18 < 65 yrs) and Geriatric (65 + yrs).
Identifies the need for patient/caregiver education and utilizes each opportunity for teaching on a planned or spontaneous basis. Documents education with understanding as appropriate.
Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
Practice principles of professional development by maintaining clinical competencies, using best and/or evidence based practices, and serving as a clinical instructor.
Meets at least 90% of productivity standards.
Willingly adjusts and adapts to changes in patient census by altering working hours to assist in other centers/programs as approved and observed by manager.
Practices principles of employee and patient safety when performing daily job activities via observation.
Handles and disposes of hazardous waste following established protocol. Consistently adheres to department's radiation dosimetry process, including meeting all badge return deadlines in a timely manner.
Complies with FH Compliance Plan, rules and regulations of all local, state, and federal agencies, and with the standards of all accrediting bodies and payers as evident through documentation reviews, tracers and rounds results. Takes responsibility for the environment of care by monitoring and taking action as needed.
